Though a tiny bit lightly armed compared to the Vindicator-class heavy cruiser, it will still contend other ships that were larger than itself, and primarily served as escort, heavily-armed picket, heavy support vessel, and rarely served as a front-line combat vessel. The Barbatos-class was reasonably well-armed, bristling with 20 light turbolasers, 15 light quad turbolasers, 15 point-defense cannons, 20 point-defense ion cannons and 5 tractor beam emitters.
It also vaguely resembles the Venator-class Star Destroyer of the Galactic Republic when looking at certain angles, though it shares design cues that were much closer to the much larger Imperial-class Star Destroyers. It's only slightly larger than the Victory II-class frigate, at 590 meters long, from bow to the very tips of its 'wings'. The Barbatos-class heavily resembles a Victory II-class frigate, due to its large wing-like extensions that are, in themselves, an homage to large command ships like the Vengeance-class SSD.
